Web - Branding

When I decided to do a self re-brand, I had to consider a number of things. At first, my main concern was the target audience. This website needed to both attract work opportunities and give enough information about myself and what I do. Once I'd established that I wanted to attract potential employers and clients, I thought about the content. I went through the process of producing multiple wireframes; I wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing website whilst making it easy for the user to navigate and gather any information they required.

Whilst designing my online portfolio site, I knew I wanted to use modern CSS3 and HTML5 technologies. I wanted to learn from the process and develop my skills alongside creating the product. I utilised the amazing CSS3 flexbox layout where I could and most animations are created using CSS3 animations. The most challenging part of the site was diving into the deep end with SVG animation. I decided to use the powerful Scrollmagic and GSAP libraries. I love anything with motion and these libraries are powerful enough for me to achieve exactly what I wanted.

One question you may have is 'Why the Grand Canyon?'. I wanted imagery to play a key part within my brand; the Grand Canyon is a perfect piece that symbolises what I want to achieve. After years and years of evolution, this iconic canyon amazes people with it's beauty and scale. This powerful and historic landmark is great to use as a metaphor to showcase my ambitions. I believe that with hard work, I too can evolve into a strong, influential designer. The sky is the limit and I believe in my potential.

To reach the goal of unified user experience and successful design, I utilised the Google Material Design language. I used motion where there's meaning and intentional, bold components for user interaction.
